Unsettled: A Memoir on Missions, Aid Work, and the Journey Between Them traverses the events that led an aspiring missionary to abandon her calling in favor of a secular vocation as an aid worker. Set within the backdrop of the current refugee crisis, Unsettled explores the unexpected spiritual journey that leaves a devoted Christian uncertain about even the most fundamental tenets of her faith. Told with honesty and vulnerability, Unsettled is the story of a know-it-all girl who comes to realize just how much she doesn’t know, and that it’s ok to be unsettled for a little while.

Jennifer holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction through the University of King’s College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies with an emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa. She has spent the last six years as a humanitarian aid worker in South Sudan, Iraq, Greece, and Syria. She is writing a spiritual memoir under the working title, Unsettled: A Memoir on Missions, Aid Work, and the Journey Between Them. Jennifer is projected to complete this work in December 2019 and is currently seeking literary representation.
